Alexa's 9th Birthday!

Alexa actually decorated this cake herself!! We got the mold for the cake (skirt) and the doll top in a set at Michael's and Alexa chose some fun icings and decorations.

For Alexa's party we went to Build-A-Bear with all the girls from her class; here are Audrey, Hope, Meagan, Anne, Elise, Clara, Justin & Alexa.

We made some delicious sugar cookies this year that the kids decorated with lots of fun designs.

1st Day of School!

We have a new 4th grader & 1st grader in the house! Alexa picked this outfit out for her first day of school at Justice on our Reno shopping trip.

Alexa's class lost 2 students this year, but added a new student, so they are 7 girls, 7 boys. Here are Cole & Caleb and Alexa in front of Annabelle, Anne & Audrey (lots of "A"s!).

Justin is excited to have his good friend Marshall in his class this year-he had been homeschooled up until now. His class is 3 boys (Justin, Marshall & Canaan) and 2 girls (Emma & Sage).

Tahoe!

We headed up to Lake Tahoe this August for our annual family vacation. Doug sported a new do.

We had a great time swimming for hours in the pool, miniature golfing, rafting down the Trukee & shopping. Here are the twins-Grant & Reed, Katherine with Anders, Finn, Justin & Alexa.

Grandparents Camp

Grampa & Emmy invited Justin up to the Farm for a fun couple days with cousins Finn & Katherine this summer. Here they are playing with water guns outside.

The next day, they drove downtown to visit the Children's Museum. Justin can't wait to take Alexa!

Aunt Granny's Birthdays Party

After a day at SeaWorld, we headed over to Aunt Granny's to celebrate the August (Justin, Tyler & Nancy) & almost August (Doug-July 30) birthdays and end of chemo (me) patients. Here's Justin opening a gift with Nancy & Rob.

Lucky girl-not even part of the birthday crowd, but she got a gift, too! Here she is next to Tyler and Emmy & Grampa.

Justin's Birthday at SeaWorld

Instead of having a birthday party this year, Justin chose to go to SeaWorld for the day to celebrate his 6th birthday. Here he is with Shamu!

Brad, Loni & Siena were also at SeaWorld to celebrate Siena's 3rd birthday. Here we are singing Happy Birthday to her.

Kauai!!

Our first day we visited Wailua Falls-seen in the opening of Fantasy Island-beautiful!!

On our way to the area where they shot Jurassic Park, the bridge we needed to cross was over-run with water from the river because of all the recent rains. Doug decided not a good call for a rental car (many locals were o.k. with the cross), but the kids enjoyed playing instead.

Day 2, we went to the closest beach-Lydgate Park.

While Alexa went to a Laua, Doug, Justin & I visited the Hyatt hotel in Poipu Beach.

Day 3-Kauai Coffee Farm.

Vacation Bible School at Solana Beach Pres.

Justin & Alexa had a great time at the VBS at Solana Beach Presbyterian this year (Kids Games). Particularly special was finding her long lost twin! Doug & I were so surprised to see someone with such similar coloring & hair, etc. Cali was a fun friend in Alexa's group-we hope to see her again.

Swimming Lessons

Justin & Alexa had fun doing swimming lessons at the Wave Waterpark in Vista in June. Justin made a whole lot of progress and has become almost water-safe! On the last day of class, they received free admission for the waterslides!!

Above is a portion of the "States" song that Alexa's 3rd grade class learned to help them remember the capitals of all 50 States. Each student did a report on a state-Alexa chose Virginia because her cousin Riley has lived there. So during the song, when they sing your state you waive to the audience.

3rd Grade Chapel

3rd Grade hosted Chapel recently-here is Alexa with her class (back row with pink striped sweater). Every year this class does the cutest song that lists all 50 states and their capitals. The song is contagious, but I suppose it's not too late for me to finally know them, too.

Metal Mouth!

Here is Alexa wearing her Rebecca American Girl doll pajamas that match the pair on Rebecca herself-as well as Rebecca's kittens. It is also the last we will see for a while of those beautiful pearly whites because......

Now she has braces!!! Of course they are pink-she is most definitely the inspiration for the book "Pinkalicious" ;) So far she's only had a lot of soreness the first day they were put on.

Christmas!
