Jog-A-Thon

One of the annual school fundraisers is a Jog-a-thon which each grade participates in. Here is Alexa with the two other girls in her class-Aria & Chrissy.

For team spirit-Justin's 2nd grade class made team shirts. He is 2nd from the left in the back row here with his class eating a snow cone afterwards.

Alexa did 42 laps in 30 minutes!



Justin did 37 laps in 20 minutes!

Cable Cars

We took the kids into the city a few weeks ago to ride the Cable Cars. Aside from freezing to death in September, it was a lot of fun!

Justin's 7th Birthday!

For Justin's 7th Birthday on August 20th, we went to Chuck E. Cheese. We invited his 2nd grade class. Here he is with Lucas, Alexa, Keana, Alyssa & Janaya (couldn't fit the rest in). It was so nice that so many kids came having only been in school for a few days!

1st Day of School at Walnut Creek Christian Academy

Alexa & Justin are now officially 5th & 2nd Graders! Here they are on the first day of school (August 10th!).

There are 2 Second Grade classes-Justin is in Mrs. Inloes' with 17 other students.

Saint Lucia!

We got to visit another beautiful island in the Carribean this year with Papa. We stayed at the Windjammer resort in Saint Lucia the last week in June.

The kids LOVED all the time in the pool and ocean.

Kids Games at Solana Beach Presbyterian

Alexa & Justin enjoyed a week of Vacation Bible School at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church in June. Alexa was in a group that performed a song on stage in the closing ceremonies.

Justin got to participate in a cooking class! Here he is with the other kids in his group.

4th Graders Field Trip to Sea World

The 4th graders took a fun field trip to Sea World the last week of school. One of the class's students' father works there. They were given a preview of a brand new Shamu show. Consequently, they got a little wet.

Mission San Juan Capistrano

In our effort to visit all the California Missions after Alexa's 4th grade introduction to them, we took the train up to San Juan Capistrano and visited it's mission on Memorial Day Weekend.

Alexa's Violin Recital

Alexa played in her teacher's annual violin recital again this year. We would have posted the movie of her playing her piece, but the songs are getting quite long! She played from Suziki's Book #2 which she has almost completed.

Community Christian School Open House

Community Christian School held their annual Open House Night in May. Here's Justin in front of the collage the 1st graders put together.

Alexa is here with her California History Report that was on display with all the 4th graders.

Someone likes Stuffed Animals...

Came into Justin's room one afternoon and found him buried alive in stuffed animals in his toy chest....

Easter 2011

This year we attended the City of San Marcos Easter Egg Hunt the day before Easter. They had a breakfast with the Easter Bunny prior to the egg hunt~here is Justin with the big bunny.

This was a HUGE egg hunt. Unfortunately for Justin, he had to use my purse to grab eggs because he didn't save his basket from last year and the Easter Bunny hadn't brought one this year yet.

We had a nice Easter Sunday at church and a nice dinner at home. The weather was pretty ugly, but the kids look sunny.

Alexa gets a new Pet!

Alexa got a new pet last month. It is a diamond dove and she has named her Clara. We've enjoyed having her-particularly her cooing!

4th Graders at Indian Hills

Alexa joined the 4th Graders on their annual 2 days at Indian Hills Camp for the Gold Rush experience. They actually slept inside covered wagons like the one they're pictured in front of. She had a great time despite having to sleep in her jacket because she was so cold! (Alexa in the back row-far left-pink jacket)

Rain Gutter Regatta

The Cub Scouts held their annual Rain Gutter Regatta last month. Here's Justin with his sail boat that he designed with Doug. It was pretty stiff competition, but he actually won some races!

San Marcos Street Fair

We had a lot of fun at the annual San Marcos Street Fair last month. Here Justin is driving the fire engine.

The kids really enjoy the Geico Insurance commercials on T.V., so they were very excited to get to pose with the Gecko.

Alexa's souvenir for the day was this parasol~perfect for her fair skin!

American Girl Fashion Show!!!

Alexa was fortunate enough to be chosen to be in the American Girl Fashion Show on March 12. There were strict regulations against any pictures being taken during the program, but the models were allow to bring disposable cameras and take pictures back stage. Above & below are some of the shots Alexa got.

Alexa was the "Julie" character from the 70's era. She was in the sleepwear scene. Here she is in her costume with other characters from the scene.

Alexa had such a great cheering section! Above she posed with Katherine, Nicole, Clara & Cameron after the show. In addition to these girls were Mom, Dad, Justin, Christine, Riley, Denise, Anita, Betsy, Emmy, Ann, Ali & Monique! What great support!!

Pinewood Derby!

Last month, Justin joined a Cub Scout troup! Here he is with Alexa in his Cub Scout (Tiger's) uniform.

The first event he got to participate in was the Pinewood Derby! He spent a lot of time designing his car-above is the finished product.

Here he is in his first race. He wasn't a winner this year-but we have lots of ideas for next year.

4th Grade Field Trip to Mission San Luis Rey

Like most 4th graders, Alexa's class has been studying the California missions this semester. Yesterday we got to go on a field trip to Mission San Luis Rey.

After touring all the sites around the mission, we had a tour inside the chapel.

Justin starts Martial Arts

Justin started martial arts this month! It is held at North Coast Calvary Chapel-a satellite location for the main studio in Rancho Bernardo. He is really enjoying it. Here he is with his teacher.

Chess Tournament

Justin played in his first chess tournament last week. He won 3 games! It was a good opportunity for him to play with other 1st/2nd graders and work on his sportsmanship.

Disneyland!

On Martin Luther King Day, we headed up to Disneyland! It was just beautiful~warm weather and not too crowded. Above are Doug & Alexa on Buzz Lightyear.

Alexa really enjoyed Main Street-here she is with Justin on the old fire engine.

Justin had fun meeting all the Pooh characters.

Thanks to fast-pass we only waited 15 minutes for Splash Mountain...but got VERY soaked.

American Girl Store

Alexa & Riley's Papa knows EXACTLY what a little girl wants for Christmas...American Girl gift cards!!! He was kind enough to give one to each of them this year, and Christine schedulede a special morning where the girls were trained in hairstyles at the hair salon.

The class is limited to the number of available doll seats-quite an exclusive group! Afterwards, Alexa & Riley roamed the store. Thanks again Papa!!

Mountain High!

Just before the end of the year, we made it up to Mountain High to take the kids tubing. This was Justin's first real experience with the snow!
